A day of sunshine and rain but great results from both teams.

U14 Girls B Team
Games played at Bradford Girls Grammar School, starting in great weather conditions sun shining but the day deteriorated playing their last game in the rain.

Results from the day
Huddersfield 0 - 0 Thirsk
Bradford 2 - 0 Thirsk
Hull 0 - 0 Thirsk

The girls played well all morning. The second game against Bradford was the hardest one and we ran out of steam near the end it was the second game on the trot as we had played Huddersfield in the game earlier, which allowed them to score a goal in the final minutes. Bradford had scored a nice goal earlier so a 1-0 deficit would have been a better reflection of the game.
Against Hull in the final game we must have had about 15 penalty corners and due to some good goalkeeping and defending we just couldn't get the goal we needed. The girls did attempt different tactics on the short corners so they were creative in their approach.
Thanks goes to John Liley for stepping into Team manage these girls.

U14 Girls C Team
Amazing the last game of the season for the U14 girls C team was played on home soil. A cool but sunny morning of hockey awaited them, having moved up a further Division to Div 6 this would be tougher matches ahead of them.

Results from the day
Slazengers 1 – 4 Thirsk
Sheffield Hallam 4 – 1 Thirsk
Ben Rhydding 3 – 0 Thirsk

Their first game and they all settled very early on and quickly went ahead, with some good passing play which Slazengers just couldn’t do anything about. However in a lapse of concentration Slazengers managed to pull a goal back.
The next two games were always going to be the hardest and even though Thirsk lost these games they did have their opportunities to score only getting the one goal in the final two games.
Thanks go to Tom for umpiring and for Chris for coming along and help in coaching.
All the girls who have played for the C team this season should be very proud of themselves achieving so much starting the season in Div 8 and progressing up the league to finish the season in Div 6.
