Well done to everyone who represented Thirsk HC today.

Both the A and B Teams delivered great performances and Ian and I were extremely impressed by the team ethic on display. Owing to last minute illness and injury the squad was reduced to 14 players and so a rapid reshuffle was required to ensure both the A and B Teams could participate as each needed a minimum of 7 players. Deacon Laverick volunteered to goal keep for the A’s and Jack Nicholls had to go and represent the B’s (thank you both). There were no substitutes and so all played every minute of every match. Great effort all round.

A Team (Deacon L, Joseph O’G, George H, Teddy H, Alex G, Jack F & Joe T) results:
Slazengers 1 – Thirsk 0 – Very unlucky to lose this one as dominated the match.
K-U-Hull 0 – Thirsk 1 – Goal scored by jack Foxley from a short corner. Not clinical enough in front of goal as we had all the possession. This one could have easily been 3 nil but a win is a win!
Thirsk 1 – Doncaster A 1 – Again, unlucky to concede an equaliser after long spells of Thirsk attacking pressure, but we were caught on the break. Good goal from Alex Glegg though.
Thirsk 2 – Doncaster B 0 – Goals from Joe Tart and Jack Foxley, great display of attacking hockey, easily our best performance of the day.
York A 1 – Thirsk 1 – Bravely fought back to 1-1 with a great goal from Alex Glegg. Two fine saves and the post stopped us winning this one.
Maintained our position in the league.

Players’ Player: Deacon Laverick – For standing in very short notice to don the GK pads and giving it a good go.
Manager’s Player: Alex Glegg – Superb driving runs, great vision and superbly weighted through balls.

B Team (Jamie G, Daniel T, George W, Hugh T, Cian W, Jack D & Jack N) results:
Thirsk 3 – Driffield B 0 – Scorers Jack Nicholls, Jack Disbury and Daniel Tideswell
Driffield A 1 – Thirsk 0
Northallerton 0 – Thirsk 2 – Scorers Jack Nicholls and Jack Disbury
Thirsk 1 – Bridlington 1 – Scorer Daniel Tideswell
Maintained our position in the league.

Special mention to Jack Nicholls (who played like a Trojan) and Daniel Tideswell who willingly represented Bridlington in some of their fixtures as they were short of players.
Players’ Players: Jack Nicholls & Jamie Green Manager’s Player: George White
Special thanks to Ian Foxley for managing the B Team at Adel at the expense of being able to watch his own son at Weetwood, to Natalie Laverick for being an angel and scurrying about to collect the goalkeeper kit and offering to wash kits and finally to the parents for their support.
