Great start for the thirds.

With the thermometer sitting at 23 degrees on a very hot Saturday in September the Ladies 3 took on Slazengers 3 in what turned out to be a well contested match. With new members of the team for the start of this season everyone quickly got into the swing of things and some great passing hockey was played. An unfortunate head injury to a Thirsk player resulted in a 15 minute stoppage – a big thanks to the Slazenger player who helped us with first aid.
Once back out the Thirsk players showed great resilience and turned their minds back to the game in hand and by half time the score was 1 -1 with our goal coming from Anna.
A team talk from Jo at half time when plenty of water was taken on board gave us the impetus to keep going despite the heat. Luckily having 2 subs meant we could roll people on and off to keep hydrated and take short rests.
Thirsk kept the pressure on in the second half with a number of short corners which eventually gave us our second goal by Helen and the match ended with a 2-1 win.
A great start to the season for the team!
