Ladies 2nd`s v Hull Uni 1

Sat 5th November Thirsk Astro

This was always going to be a tough game against a young Hull Uni side, Who were 6 places above Thirsk in Div 2.
Hull started off very strongly with good accurate passing, creating numerous chances but Molly Disbury in the Thirsk goal making some outstanding saves kept Thirsk in the game. The ladies had their own chances to score being prompted by the impressive Georgie Turner. The score was 0-0 at halftime.
Thirsk started the 2nd half much the stronger team, bossing the midfield with Libby, Georgie, Millie and Olivia getting there passing game going. The pressure eventually paid off when Thirsk took the lead 20 mins from time through a close range finish from Bev Petty. Thirsk continued to make some great chances but unfortunately Hull managed to equalise with 10 mins to go, Which set up a tense end to a great game of hockey. The final score was 1-1, Which on reflection was a fair result.
The forwards worked tirelessly to try and get a 2nd goal. Jo, Bev, Gaynor and Larae
The defence performed heroically, as ever, with Kate, Sarah, Chrissie, Oona and Lynne. And a special mention goes to Molly Disbury, making her debut in goal for the 2nds.
