EH CUP PRELIMS - LEEDS ADEL 1 - THIRSK 2

Thirsk bounce back from a poor first game. After a few home truths from the coach the team played their second game of the EH Cup against Leeds Adel. Leeds Adel initially started well with them putting us under some initial pressure, but our defence were communicating a lot better with Joe de Winter, Jack Devlin & Arthur Webster Jones reading the game well and meeting the threat on the edge of the D. They continued to press in our half, but Callum Crisp & Matty Raynor started to control the game. Callum Crisp passed to Connor Wilkinson who had spotted Owen Reed's overlapping run and slotted a ball down the wing for Owen to control and smash across the D to Tom Crack who finished clinically. The game remined pretty even until Adel were awarded a penalty corner which they converted. The team continued to be positive with determined work from Matty Raynor to boss the midfield and feed our forwards. eventually the hard work paid off with a ball in their D to Connor Wilkinson who manged to get a shot way only to see it saved and he hit the rebound to be saved again finally it came back to him again and despite lots pressure from the Adel defence he managed to lift it over the keeper. The team continued to control the game should have scored a third. The final score was a 2-1 win and a much better team performance.
