YYHL U16 BOYS DIV 3 - THIRSK: 4 V LEEDS: 0

Straight into the second game still raining heavily, with us taking on an understrength Leeds side who were down to 10 players due to injury. We started brightly but were a little sloppy at times giving the ball away to easily and not exploiting the space as well as in our previous game. Eventually we started to press in their 23 and a great run into the D by Connor Wilkinson created the space for him to calmly pass to Callum Crisp who smashed the ball home. Owen Reed had been struggling with a knock from the first game and at this point we brought him off. We continued to press but struggled to convert our chances and disappointingly were only leading 1:0 at half time. Straight after half time more good work in their D saw us awarded a penalty corner, a great receive from Matty Raynor who drew the runner and pushed it right for Connor Wilkinson to slot home and score his third of the day. Leeds continued to work hard against us and created chances of their own and if hadn't been for Sam Ross Russell in goal, pulling off a couple of great saves they would have been back in the game. As they pushed to try and score this created more space and some more good build up play saw Tom Crack run into the D drawing their keeper and passing to Sam Kelly to sweep home. Leeds were still keen to try and get on the score sheet which left them vulnerable at the back and more good build up work saw Tom Crack score his third of the day and our fourth. Final score 4:0; another good team performance in difficult conditions. The days results saw us win Div 3 which will see us move up to YYHL Div 2 on 2nd December 18, location TBC. The players voted for their Player of the Tournament which saw Connor Wilkinson just get the vote ahead of Tom Crack.
