YYHL U16 BOYS DIV 2 - THIRSK: 1 DRIFFIELD: 0

A tough start to the day saw the team take on a strong and well organised Driffield Team. After back to back promotions in the YYHL we started the day in YYHL Div 2 against Driffield, both teams passed the ball well and it was very cagey initially. We used the width of the pitch well and a drive into the D saw us awarded a penalty corner. A sharp injection from Callum Crisp to Matty Raynor who calmly pushed the ball to the right for Connor Wilkinson to slot home. Driffield then started to take control of the game with some fast flowing attacks which really kept us busy at the back. Great defensive work from Joe De Winter, Jacob Illey, Jack Devlin and Arthur Webster Jones with Sam Ross Russell as consistent as ever in goal saw us deny the Driffied attack on numerous occasions. As they pressed we occasionally counter attacked and one flowing move almost saw us double the score with a great long pass into their D by Matty Raynor saw Tom Crack get the slightest deflection that narrowly missed their goal. Driffield continued to press but the team remained focused right to the end to see us win a very tough game.
