A win or a draw would see us win Div 2

A win or a draw would see us win Div 2, with Driffield winning both their other games and having a better goal difference we knew we couldn't afford to lose our last game against Leeds Adel. After strong words from the coach the team knew they need to start better that the previous game. Right from the start the team moved the ball quickly using the width of the pitch. Every time we got in their 23 we looked dangerous and the pressure saw an early penalty corner awarded. The Matty Raynor/Connor Wilkinson combination worked again with Connor finishing clinically after Matty deceived the defence with his push right. Leeds Adel struggled to contain us and more pressure led to another penalty corner awarded. This time the ball was received by Connor Wilkinson who pushed it to Matty Raynor who calmly passed it across the D for Sam Kelly to finish on the opposite post. The boys continued to press with great work on both wings from Sam Kelly & Tom Crack with Callum Crisp and Tom O'Mahoney a constant threat in Leeds Adel D. More impressive work from Sam Kelly fed Connor Wilkinson who from a very tight angle smashed a shot in at the near post. Chances continued to be created with the Leeds Adel keeper managing to stop what looked like a certain goal from Callum Crisp, as we pressed to score more Leeds Adel did mange the occasional counter, but again great focus in our defence particularly from Joe De Winter and Jacob Illey saw any of their chances dealt with. The final play of the day saw Leeds Adel awarded a penalty corner, they managed to get it past Sam but as we cleared it of the line it hit the foot of our players, the umpire pointed at the spot and awarded them a penalty flick. Their player took the flick to Sam Ross Russell's right side, he dived down and some how manged to get his stick to the ball and save the flick. A great way to finish the game with a clean sheet, a much better performance from all the players allowed us to register a 3-0 win, our third win of the day and promotion to YYHL U16 Boys Div 1. After the tournament the players voted for their Player of the Tournament which was awarded to Connor Wilkinson who keeps converting his chances and is currently top scorer with 8 goals for the season. The boys have know played 7 YYHL league games and have won them all meaning that we have completed 3 back to back promotions, they should be very proud of how they have played this season so far, we now have a very tough fixtures in Div 1 on 6th Jan 19 location TBC.
