Thirsk's U14 Boys kicked-off their YYHL season with 3 wins despite the seemingly never-ending pouring rain.

Thirsk's U14 boys had a productive first hockey YYHL session with 3 wins out of 4 which saw them finish second in Div 3; a fabulous achievement given that some of the boys were new to the YYHL, and most of the others played Div 5 or 6 last season.

Lots of evidence of applied learning throughout and the quality of decision making as the morning went on, was very noticeable. Solid teamwork and a fierce determination to play to the last whistle.

Great work guys, we are all very proud of your efforts today. Hope you and your supporters managed to get warm and dry out.

Thanks to:

David for umpiring for 3 solid hours to cover for Harrogate and Sheffield.

The players' parents and other supporters who also got drenched but kept cheering the boys on throughout.

Coach Jo who came down to watch and ended up umpiring a couple of matches too!

Player of the Match:
Connor (and scorer of two goals as well)

Manager's Player:
Owen for an impressive debut and a never give up mentality.
