A strong start, a short lapse and a strong finish see off visitors Chapeltown.

Thirsk ladies 1st were all glad to return to the hockey pitch and run off their Christmas excesses.

Opening the year as top of Yorkshire premier division the team where keen to maintain their position. Captain Hannah opened the scoring soon to be followed by goals from Megan Allen and Bea Bell, despite some outstanding goal keeping from Chapeltown. With their 3 nil advantage Thirsk took their foot off the steam and Chapeltown capitalised on this. The score at half time was 3 - 2.

Following a motivational half time talk from coach Chris Booth Thirsk returned for the second half fired up. They displayed great team work and determination and started to dominate the match. Chapeltown fought back but eventually Megan Allen scored the final goal of the match seeing Thirsk with their first victory of the year at 4 - 2.
Great to see the girls on form and working well together dispite the challenging opposition. Man of the match was awarded to Anna Durkin for her great contribution to the match. Bring on 2017!
