No substitutes does not mean a loosing result.

On Saturday Thirsk Ladies 2nds made the away trip to Sheffield University Hallam 2nds. With no substitutes to call on the eleven players who made the journey expected a tough game. The game started fairly evenly however and it was actually Thirsk who had the best chance when the ball was played across goal and was narrowly missed on the far post by Marnie. This did not deter Marnie however who made long runs down the right wing throughout the game with Sheffield struggling to keep up with her pace. Thirsk moved the ball well all over the pitch from back to front but unfortunately a chance fell to a Sheffield forward who struck the ball past goalkeeper Val who was unsighted by several players. At half tme the score was 1-0 to Sheffield but Thirsk knew they were not out of the game. The second half was again an ever contest with good defensive play from Mollie, Oona and Yaz holding off the Sheffield attackers and releasing the ball into the midfield of Hattie, Georgi, Libby and Olivia who combined well and played the ball though to Fern in attack. Val making saves when called on. Eventually Thirsk determination paid off when they managed a well deserved equaliser from a shot after a short corner by Lynne which the keeper missed after pressure from player of the match Marnie. A fair result at the final whistle of 1-1.
