Sunday 2nd April at Thirsk H C, a first for the club.

Thirsk U14 girls were taking part in the North Finals of the EH Cup at Thirsk Astro, 1st time we had held such an important tournament, which shows the growth of the club.
The girls were 1st match on against Belper HC, Derbyshire. We started off brightly and were rewarded with a scrappy goal finished at the far post by Fern Watson. This should have been a signal for the girls to push on and get more goals. They continued to dominate but could not find another goal, unfortunately Tabby Cockrill had a great strike ruled out. So Thirsk started off with a win but would need to improve for their next game.
Next up were Repton HC. Which was going to be our toughest game on paper and that proved to be right. Thirsk started brightly again but Repton started to pass the ball around making inroads into the Thirsk defence and scored 2 quick fire goals midway through the first half, 2 nil at half time. Trevor did his best to lift the girls, knowing that an early 2nd half goal would get us back in it but unfortunately Repton scored a breakaway goal shortly after the restart, then a 4th midway thru the half. Thirsk did create chances but lacked the quality of finishing they needed. Final score was 4 nil to Repton, maybe touch harsh on the girls but Repton deserved the win.
Last game was against our season rivals Sheffield with pride at stake. It was always going to be a tight game and such it proved to be. Thirsk opened the scoring in the 1st half with a good move neatly finished off at the far post by Sadie Bosomworth. Thirsk had numerous chances to kill the game off but unfortunately Sheffield equalised with a scrappy goal. So it ended honours even.
Thanks to Tom and Ellie for umpiring and all hockey club members and parents for being great hosts to the visiting teams and supporters.
