With an expanded Division 3 kicking off a week early, Thirsk started the game by dominating possession and creating multiple opportunities which the opposition defence were somehow able to scramble away, so it was a surprise to give away a short corner, and then concede the first goal of the game. And then to repeat, both goals being deflections off Thirsk's own players past their keeper. Thirsk maintained their passing game and clawed back 1 goal before half time with a clean short corner strike by Liam Shannon. Key message at half time was to continue playing the same way and more chances would come. Almost immediately on restarting, Liam lifted the ball from half way over the Adel defence and a resultant short was stopped by a defenders foot on the line giving Phil Hughes the chance to send the keeper the wrong way from the spot. Thirsk took the lead from a clinical flick for another defender's foot in front of goal, and continued to pressurise the D for the rest of the game with Sam Kelly adding the fourth and Jake Bowers the last. Excellent work rate from the whole squad rotating on a hot day with Matty Raynor, Brookie Trant and Phil Hughes providing a great screen in front of the back 3.
Man of the match Callum Crisp for skills with the ball and finding some great passes into the front 2.
