Thirsk conceded the first goal before most of the team had touched the ball and the opposition continued to press very high, making it tough for the Thirsk defence to clear its lines and control possession. Despite high work rate from the whole team, 3 further goals were conceded before half time. Thirsk reorganised at half time switching to a 5 man defence with the 3 midfielders playing deeper, which proved more successful. The team were able to retain possession and start testing the opposition, with George Hunt setting up Liam Shannon to fire home, and Patrick Hunt stretching to pull back a pass for Jake Bowers to slot into the corner. Unfortunately Doncaster also scored 2 more, but importantly Thirsk maintained a positive approach despite some provocation and the scoreline. Great work from Phil Bell to marshal the defence and man of the match Matty Raynor.
