Thirsk started brightly controlling possession from defence and spreading the ball across the attacking midfielders, so it was a surprise to concede against the run of play. However, pressing high up the pitch and forcing opposition mistakes, Thirsk quickly equalised through Joseph Shannon. With a mis-firing short corner routine, Thirsk did not make the most of their dominance and paid the price gifting a goal in a defensive mix-up. With a half-time reminder to keep calm and keep playing the same way, Thirsk equalised when Phil Hughes drove though the opposition midfield to strike from the edge of the D and did not let the opposition back into the game. Further goals followed from Joseph, Jake Bowers and man of the match Sam Kelly in an improving overall team performance.
