Thirsk started slowly against lowly ranked Huddersfield and paid the penalty, conceding another early goal. Unlike previous weeks however, Thirsk struggled to settle against a defensive setup, as Huddersfield continued to look to escape from deep with long balls up to isolated forwards. Midway through the first half, Thirsk scored 2 goals to take the lead, including a very tight angle finish on the reverse from Joseph Shannon which should have settled the team, but Thirsk still laboured to make many clear opportunities. The second half was more controlled, but Thirsk should have made more against a team reduced to 10 men for a long period. Final score 4-1, with other goals from Phil Bell, Sam Kelly and man of the match George Hunt, maintaining a cool head in the heat of the contest.
