A trip away to Slazenger's was the fixture of the day but that wasn't the exciting part, the introduction of fines, MOM and DOD was really the fun that got the juices flowing. After a 45 minute walk from the station by the DOD, members of the team arrived early and changed ready for the game only to realise that there were two major issues already with 20 minutes to go before the start! Problem a) there were 4 players missing but to be fair they were representing the club in another game previous so only a small fine was imposed. Problem b) podgy phil that isn't so podgy but still seems quite podgy had forgotten trainers! Major, major fine! Anyway onto the game, THC started and began well for the first 15/20 minutes, creating chances through Heorge Gunt (MOM and chief snitch), DP and of course that man AC in his ever so figure hugging white shorts and yellow t-shirt. All was well in the world, the team was working well forward and backward ensuring that the width of Dave (JD) and Mr 80s headband himself (Pat) kept Slaz on the back foot. All soon changed. A long ball over the top to their striker threw Not so podgy but still quite podgy Phil into chaos and was left in the slipstream of the young, athletic 55 year old striker to go down 1-0. The tables had turned and now Slaz were putting passes together and catching DOD and Mr PE himself flat in the centre of midfield. The score line soon became 2-0 just before half time. No sooner had the 2nd half started, after a team Terry's Chocolate orange, and we found ourselves 3-0 down. Up stepped Heorge Gunt who started to find some pace and drive the defence of the Slaz onto the back foot, creating chances and linking up nicely with Rugby top Fothergill and that 80s dude on the right. A foot was given and the ball was played early to Pat who drilled a cross in to find that Policeman in shocking trainers (Rafe) who smashed.....the ground and just caught the ball enough to put it past the keeper. Game on. We soon scored a second through Dave from an impossible angle to make it 3-2! Finally chances were coming! Tides were turning! Then they scored two more and we lost 5-2. Never mind onto next week and MOM was the snitch named as Heorge Gunt.
