4. Volunteering

Our club is founded and maintained by the efforts of our amazing volunteers and without them the club wouldn't function.

We are grateful to all who help with coaching, umpiring and committee work. We encourage all our members to get involved in volunteering – hockey expertise isn't a prerequisite.
There are a wide variety of roles involving different amounts of time. If you have skills that you think would help the club or are interested in any of the volunteering roles, we’d love to know more.

Volunteering with the junior section

We are always looking for more help, so we can offer as many junior players as possible the chance to enjoy first-class hockey training in a fun and safe environment.

We need junior coaches and umpires. We offer free courses and we will happily discount junior membership fees for our helpers.

We also need age group co-ordinators to help liaise with teams and parents, as well as team managers to help on match days, as with so many teams the coaches can’t be in all places at once. Team managers can also help as parent helpers on the pitch.

We offer junior leadership opportunities to our older juniors, which are also suitable for the Duke of Edinburgh award.

Volunteering to umpire

Without umpires there would be no matches, we need more umpires throughout our junior and adult sections. We’re happy to support umpire development through free courses and mentoring. Any of our umpires would be happy to chat about their experience and how they got involved and now regularly umpire. You can start at juniors and before you know it you could be umpiring pro-league hockey, like one of our recent members.

Other volunteering opportunities

If you want to organise and help at social events, spot sponsorship opportunities, litter pick, or tidy the container, there are plenty of jobs to help the smooth running and success of the club.
